ebcam Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
ebcam ("the app") is a film camera app made by Onur Bulut ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: ebcam does not collect, store on our servers, sell or share any personal data. Everything you shoot and every setting you choose stays on your device. The only thing the app sends us is usage statistics under a random installation number, which you can turn off.
What the app accesses, and why
The app asks for these permissions only when you use the feature that needs them. You can change them at any time in your phone's settings.
| Permission | Why | Where the data goes |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To show the viewfinder and take photos and videos. | Photos are developed on your device and saved in the app. |
| Microphone | To record sound with the video cameras. | Stays in the video file on your device. |
| Photos (add) | To save developed photos and videos to your photo library. On by default; you can turn it off in Settings. | Your photo library. |
| Photos (read) | To import photos you pick, and to read their capture date and location from the photo so the date stamp shows the day it was taken. You can turn this off in Settings. | Processed on your device only. |
| Location (while using the app) | Only if you turn on Location tag: the place where a photo or video is taken is written into the file's own metadata (EXIF GPS for photos, the location field for videos) and kept with the shot inside the app, so re-developing keeps it. Off by default. | Stays in the file and in the app on your device. |
Features such as the portrait collage (finding the people in a photo), film looks, light leaks and video processing run entirely on your device. No photo, video, location or other content is uploaded anywhere by the app.
Data we do not collect
- No account or sign-in is required.
- The app contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- No crash reports are sent to us. The usage statistics described below carry no name or account and can be turned off.
- No data is shared with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
Usage statistics
To see which parts of the app are used and where people get stuck, the app sends us a record of what happens in it, under a random installation number: for example that the app was opened, that camera access was allowed or denied, which film camera was selected, that a photo was taken, that the ebcam Pro screen was shown or a purchase was completed, or that an error occurred.
- Sent with each event: a random installation number that the app creates the first time it is opened, the app version, the operating system and its major version, the app language, the day the app was first opened and the number of days since then, and a second random number for each launch. The installation number lets us follow how one installation of the app is used over time. It is not your device's identifier, an advertising identifier or an account, it does not tell us who you are, and it is gone when you delete the app.
- Never sent: your photos or videos, their content or metadata, your location, your name, e-mail address or contacts, an advertising or device identifier, or anything you type.
- Our server runs on Cloudflare and notes the country a request comes from. Your IP address is not stored.
- The statistics are not linked to your name, account or any other identity, are not used for advertising, are not combined with data from other apps or companies, and are not sold to or shared with anyone. They are deleted after 13 months.
- You can turn this off at any time in Settings › About › Usage statistics. When you turn it off nothing more is sent, the installation number is erased from your device, and the app asks our server to delete everything recorded under that number.
Google ML Kit (Android only)
On Android, the portrait collage finds the people in your photos with Google's ML Kit, which runs on your device; your photos are never sent to Google. When you use it, ML Kit sends Google technical diagnostics about the feature itself, as it does in every app that uses it: for example the device model and OS version, the app's package name and version, a per-installation identifier that does not identify you, performance figures and error codes. Google uses this data to maintain and improve ML Kit and does not share it with third parties. Details: ML Kit terms.
Purchases
ebcam Pro is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; we never receive your payment details. The app only asks the store whether your Pro purchase or subscription is active, and remembers that answer on your device.
Your photos and settings
Your photos, negatives (the originals kept for re-developing) and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are removed when you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Photos you saved to your photo library stay there until you delete them. If your device backs up app data (for example iCloud or Google backup), that backup is handled by Apple or Google under your own account.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process children's personal data. Since the app collects no personal data, none is collected from children either.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
